Q1: i am trying to compare the oberwerk 20x80 lightweight and the celestron skymaster 20x80. can you tell me the differences between the two. what would be the better buy. thank you.
A: Hello Al, Thank you for your email and patience! There are definite differences between the two - but I'll compare them for you so that you can make your own decision. The closest you will be able to focus in on an object with the Oberwerks is 60ft. With the Celestron you will be able to focus in slightly closer at 51ft. The Oberwerks are not weather resistant - the Celestrons are (this does not mean they are completely wateproof. . it only means that they'll be able to handle minimal amounts of rain/moisture for short periods of time) The Oberwerks are lighter at a weight of 3.6 lbs while the Celestrons are at a weight of 5.87 lbs. The field of view for the Oberwerks are 183 ft @ 1,000 yards and the Celestrons are 173 ft at 1,000 yards. It's hard for me to personally suggest one over the other because the specifications are so closely related. Oberwerks, however, due boast a full broadband multi-coating which may gain a slight edge in light gathering ability over the Celestron. But the differences may be extremely subtle. Thank you again for your patience! Please let us know if we can be of further assistance! Best Regards, Denny
